This Privacy Policy explains how the Hong Kong Dragon Association uses any personal information we collect about you when you use this website.

Cookies

Cookies are text files placed on your computer to collect standard internet log information and visitor behaviour information. This information is used to track website visitor use and compile statistical reports on website activity. For further details, please visit www.aboutcookies.org or www.allaboutcookies.org.

You can set your browser not to accept cookies, and the above websites tell you how to remove cookies from your browser. However, in a few cases some of our website features may not function.

Web forms

When you submit information to this website via a web form, we collect the data requested to track and respond to your submissions. We share this information with Vercel, our website hosting provider, so that they can provide us with website services. Messages sent through our contact form are delivered to us by Resend, our email provider.

The newsletter

If you sign up to our newsletter we collect your email address, and nothing else. We ask for it only when you choose to give it to us, and we use it only to send you news about the 2027 Hong Kong Dragon World Championship: announcements, partner appointments, and practical information for competitors and visitors.

We do not sell your email address, and we do not pass it to our sponsors or partners for their own marketing.

Your address is held by Resend, the service we use to send the newsletter, who process it on our behalf and store it on servers in the United States. Resend also records whether an email was delivered and, for the newsletter, whether it was opened, so that we can tell whether our mailings are arriving and worth sending.

Every newsletter we send carries an unsubscribe link at the foot. One click removes you, and we will not email you again. You can also write to info@dragonworld2027.com at any time and ask us to remove you, to tell you what we hold about you, or to correct it.

We keep your address until you unsubscribe, or until twelve months after the Championship has finished, whichever comes first. After that the list is deleted.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics only runs if you choose "Accept all" in the cookie notice. If you choose "Necessary only", nothing is loaded from Google and no analytics cookie is set. You can change your mind at any time with the Cookie Settings link at the foot of every page, which switches analytics off again straight away.

When it is switched on, Google Analytics tells us which pages are visited and for how long, roughly where in the world the visit came from, what kind of device and browser was used, and which site or search brought the visitor to us. We use this to see which parts of the site are useful and to improve them.

It does not tell us your name, your email address or anything else that identifies you personally, and we do not combine it with any information you give us through the contact form or the newsletter. Your IP address is shortened by Google before it is stored, so it cannot be traced back to you, and we have switched off every advertising and personalisation feature Google offers. Google Analytics places one cookie in your browser so a return visit is not counted twice; only Google can read it.

All data handled by Google is retained for 26 months from your last visit, the minimum term they allow.

Maps

The maps of the racing area draw their background from OpenStreetMap and OpenSeaMap, two free, volunteer-run mapping projects. Loading the map pictures tells those projects your IP address, as loading any picture from any website does. They set no cookie, and we send them nothing else about you. The maps are part of how the pages work, so they load whichever cookie choice you make.

Your own schedule

On the For Visitors page you can tick the social events you want and build your own schedule. Those ticks are stored by your browser, on your own device, so that the page remembers them when you come back. They are never sent to us: nobody here can see what you have chosen. Clearing your browser's site data, or pressing Clear on the schedule, removes them. Adding the events to your calendar, or saving them as a PDF, happens on your device too, and sends nothing to us or to anyone else.

Other websites

Our website may contain links to other websites. This privacy policy only applies to this website, so you should read their privacy policies when you link to other websites.

Your rights

Whatever country you live in, you can ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, to correct it if it is wrong, to delete it, or to stop using it. If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation also gives you the right to receive a copy of your information in a portable form, to object to how we use it, and to complain to your national data protection authority if you are not satisfied with our answer.

We may update this privacy policy at any time, for example when regulations change or when we start using a new service. The date below always shows the version you are reading.
